Where the data comes from

Papers, authors, references and citation counts come from OpenAlex, an open catalogue of scholarly works. PubMed IDs and links point to PubMed, run by the U.S. National Library of Medicine. CitationNet shows this data as it is received and does not check or correct it.

Accuracy and completeness

No catalogue of the literature is complete. A paper’s reference list can be partly missing, two versions of one work can appear as separate papers, and citation counts differ between OpenAlex, Google Scholar, Web of Science and Scopus, sometimes widely.

A network is also shaped by the settings you choose, such as depth, the maximum number of papers and the year range. Treat it as a map of part of the literature, not a full account of it, and check anything important against the original papers.
